This album was released last year, but it took a long time for me to get it, and I haven't had the time to review it until now! This is a beautiful, mostly acoustic album, by singer-songwriter Eliza Gilkyson. Apart from Mark Andes, who is listed as executive producer and who plays bass, guitar and sings on the album, the album also features Matt Andes on slide guitar and Van Dyke Parks on accordion. This album didn't make a huge impact on me the first time I listened to it, but after a while I began to like it. This is not a rock album (maybe "folkrock";-)), and the use of instruments like pennywhistle, accordion, flute and mandolin makes that even clearer. The lyrics are romantic, reflective and dreamy. It doesn't sound like Spirit (but maybe fans of softer Spirit albums like Spirit of '76 should check it out!) but it's great anyway--check it out!
